Backcountry tours and workshops are available through the Vail Nordic School. A rather well-known backcountry experience for strong intermediates or above is the Miniturn Mile. This takes you from the top of Game Creek Express 7 to the old mining town of Miniturn and its rustic saloon. You exit through the backcountry gate at the top of Lost Boy, and work your way down till you wind up on an old jeep trail into town.
